As said yesterday, January is the month for resolutions! These are goals you make for yourself to achieve throughout the year. What goals do you want to make for yourself?
My goal is to learn Japanese and take a test like Eiken but for Japanese language!
Goals can be anything from waking up earlier, learning to cook meals you like, traveling places, or completing 5 books for the year.
In Japan almost everyone goes to the shrine for Hatsumode but what else is done on new years? In America we throw parties and stay up until midnight.
Many people try to time their favorite movies most climatic scene with the change into midnight. Imagine iron man snapping his finger right as the new year turns!
It's also the time for New resolutions!
Welcome back after the long winter holiday! I hope you enjoyed your break! What did you do? Did you visit the shrine and receive your omikuji?
I got slightly good luck for the year! If you got bad luck, dont worry, you can pull again!
I hope this year is amazing for everyone!

Is your Birthday In January? Part 5
As usual, January has two birth flowers. The first is the carnation. This is a popular flower with various meanings depending on the color. Naturally carnations come in varieties of pink, coral, white and red tones.
A basic carnation has the meaning of fascination, distinction and love. There are many stories attached to carnations that go back over 2000 years. They are tied to ancient greece and rome and also termed as flowers fit for the gods.
Carnations are also edible! You can use them to make tea and treat stomach aches and other health conditions.
