Interesting English Part 1

Hello everyone!  Let's talk about English learning!

It can be difficult to stay motivated when learning English. What is one way to keep it up when your motivation is not high?

The best way is to find a topic that interests you! If you think mathematics is boring and you watch an English video about it, it will not make you want to study more. Choose a topic that you love, or a hobby that you enjoy, and find English videos about it to watch online! But be careful, it must be a video that suits your level. Don't find one that's too complicated!

What's your favorite September tradition? Part 2

Hello everyone!

Yesterday, we learned about Respect for the Aged Day! Today, let's talk about another holiday.

In Japan, 秋分の日 is celebrated every year. But what is that in English?

We call that Autumnal Equinox Day!  Like Japan, many other cultures around the world celebrate the occasion. Some of them even have their own version of Tsukimi Dango. Can you name those countries? Why not do a search, and tell your teacher!

What's your favorite September tradition? Part 1

September is the time of year when we finally start cooling off! But more than that, it is known for rice stalks, moon viewing, and showing respect. Let's see how to talk about Japanese traditions in English!

It will soon be 老人の日.  But what is that in English?

It translates to Respect for the Aged Day!  This holiday seems to be unique to Japan! Though, it is good to show respect to your elders no matter where you are.  What will you do for the holiday?

Stressed Words are Important!

Hello everyone!

How are you doing today?  I want to talk about stress, but not the type you feel.

Stressed words in a sentence are important!  They can change its meaning.  Here's an example:

"I never said she took my wallet."

The basic meaning is: "I did not say she took my wallet."

But if you stress a word, you can completely change its meaning!  For example, "I never said she took my wallet."  If you stress 'she,' that means that somebody else took the wallet!

This sentence can have seven different meanings, depending on which word is stressed. Can you guess figure all of them out? Good luck, and let your teacher know what you find!
