Happy New Years!
In New York many people watched the ball drop in Times Square and participated in many traditions, what did you do last night? Start the new year right with cash in your pocket for luck with money throughout the rest of the year!
Have you made your New years resolution? I hope to hear what resolutions you made when you return to Amity and hopefully you can complete your goals this year!

New Years Eve
Happy New Years eve! The next time you hear from us it will be the start of the New years!
In America it is tradition to stay up and greet the new year. People dress sup nicely, throw parties and count down to midnight before screaming happy new years to each other, there is often fire works and popping of champagne as well.
There are many good luck traditions also done, form kissing your partner at midnight for a happy relationship, to eating 12 grapes at midnight for a lucky year.

Greek Myth- Persephone
Who is Persephone?
As you may of seen yesterday, Persephone is the daughter of Demeter and queen of the underworld. But how did goddess of harvest, and spring become married to Hades, kind of the underworld and ruler over death?
One day while Persephone was picking flowers, Hades saw her and kidnapped her to be his wife. Demeter, Persephone's mother searched for her everywhere and thought of a plan to get Hades to return her daughter.

Greek Myth- Persephone Part 2
Demeter's plan was to create Havoc and force Zeus to help her make Hades return her daughter. Her plan worked and Hades agreed to release Persephone.
Before she was released, Hades treated her to a meal. In this meal she ate 7 seeds of a pomegranate so Hades remade the deal. Because she ate the food of the underworld she had to return to him for 7 months of the year, the other months she returned above ground to be with her mother.

Greek Mythology - Demeter
Demeter is the daughter of Cronus and sister of Zeus, she is the goddess of agriculture and also responsible for Winter.
Demeters daughter is Persephone, the goddess of harvest who became queen of the underworld. When Demeter's daughter is taken to the underworld, Demeter refuses to let crops grow, and as they wither it is Fall, and during the coldest months it is Winter.
