Endangered Species 🐋🦈🐅🐢🐘🐧🦏🐆
Hello everyone!!
Let's read about an endangered animal.
An endangered species is any type of plant or animal that is in danger of disappearing forever.
If a species, or type, of plant or animal dies out completely, it becomes extinct.
Animals and plants depend on each other and their environment to survive. When their environment, or habitat, changes or disappears, plants and animals may become endangered. Natural disasters or changes in the climate can harm or destroy habitats.
Humans can cause species to become endangered as well. Humans pollute habitats with garbage, car fumes, and factory wastes. They destroy habitats by clearing land for roads, buildings, and farms. They also may hunt and kill too many of certain types of animals.
The arrival of a new species in a habitat is another threat. Often the new species spreads freely because it has no natural enemies. The species already in the habitat may not be able to compete against the newcomer. For example, mongooses brought to Jamaica in the 1800s killed many native animals.
Today is International Whale Shark Day.
The humongous fish happens to be the largest shark species on the planet, growing as much as 60 feet from the time of its birth. The whale shark is known for its slow and gentle behavior. It usually prefers to swim in shallow depths, but it is also found in waters as deep as 3,000 feet. Due to such factors, whale sharks are extremely easy to fish. People have been using them for their meat and fins. The whale shark market has led to at least a 50% decrease in the fish’s population. This is an alarming situation and the giant has now been placed on the endangered species list. The declining numbers also mean that the general marine environment is in danger too due to the threat of large numbers of plankton, which are one of the primary food sources for whale sharks.

A typhoon is a name for a cyclone, a big storm that forms in warm, tropical ocean waters of the world.
A typhoon forms when winds blow into areas of the ocean where the water is warm. These winds collect moisture and rise, while colder air moves in below. This creates pressure, which causes the winds to move very quickly. The winds rotate, or spin, around a center called an eye. The more warm air and moisture there is, the more intense the winds. While typhoons can occur any time of year, the conditions are most likely to be right for them to happen between June and November. 🌩🌫⛈
In order for a storm to be a typhoon, wind speeds have to reach at least 74 miles per hour. Once a storm becomes a typhoon, wind speed also determines the category of the storm. A category one storm is the lowest level, with winds blowing from 74 to 95 miles per hour. The highest and most destructive storms are in category five, with wind speeds reaching 157 miles per hour or even higher. 💨
A typhoon, Typhoon Shanshan, has been forecasted to hit Japan this week.🌀
The typhoon is moving very close to the Amami region of Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan but it's path is difficult to predict.
It's expected to bring widespread heavy rains, including along the Pacific coast from western to eastern Japan from Tuesday night through Thursday.

Hello everyone!
Language can change over time, especially as new generations come of age and new cultural trends and technological advancements emerge.
Language is the normal way humans communicate.
A generation is all of the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively.
Language is very complex. It changes frequently, particularly with generations as they are exposed to different experiences. The biggest change in language can be seen through Gen Z. The exposure to the internet and the easy access it gives to communicate with different people has meant that the way Gen Z uses language is very different to previous generations. It also creates words that can slowly lose their meaning due to the barrier of communication between Gen Z and other generations like Gen X and Baby Boomers.
Let's stay updated with all the newest jargons/ slangs and expressions.
