Making Conversation. Sharing is Caring!
Hello everyone I hope you have been having a great week!
Today we will be talking about how to make conversation. Sharing is caring!
When having a conversation in English most people share information. The best conversations happen when both parties share things back and forth. Questions usually slow a conversation down and knowing how to turn a question into a statement will you much better at conversations.
Here is an example
A: Hello. I went back to the gym over the weekend.
B: Oh yeah? I imagine its been a while.
A: Yeah. I hadn`t been to the gym in months! BUt It was easier than I thought it would be.
B: Yeah I have the same experience. When I got back to the gym after taking a break it felt like I never left.
A: I know right!
In this conversation both people share their experiences of going back to the gym. Instead of asking questions they make statements and continue the conversation. Here are some examples of common questions turned into statements.
"Where are you from?" > "Let me guess, you`re from Australia"/ "Australian?"
"What work do you do?" > "You look like a doctor"
"What hobbies do you do?" > "You play sports I can tell"
Try to turn your questions into statements and share more in your conversations!
