The Star Festival ( 七夕 or  星祭, Tanabata or Hoshimatsuri) is a public holiday in Japan which takes place annually on July 7th to celebrate the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi who get to meet once  a year.  Are you curious about the English vocabulary equivalents of Tanabata's traditions and stuff? Let's learn them today!

It means a particular person needs to decide or take an action.

A: The weather report says it will rain tomorrow. What should we do about our camping trip?

B: We can cancel if you want to. But, I personally don't want to. Either way, the ball is in your court.

In this conversation, speaker A is worried about their camping trip due to bad weather. So, speaker B gave his/her opinion and asked speaker A to have the final decision.

Today, let's learn how to express your sadness in English.

You can say the following phrases/sentences:

“I’m feeling down today.”

“I’m upset/disappointed/unhappy/heartbroken.”

 

There are also English idioms to express it. Some of them are:

"I’m going through a rough patch.”

"I’m feeling blue.”

“I feel under the weather.”
