Let’s Learn About Juneteenth
Juneteenth is a holiday in America that marks the end of slavery in the United States. It is also known as Black Independence Day or Juneteenth Independence Day. It is celebrated and observed annually on June 19th every year. Even though Juneteenth has been celebrated for a long time in the African American community, it did not become a federal holiday until 2021. On this day, people usually celebrate by having prayer and religious services, speeches, educational events, picnics and family gatherings, festivals, music, dancing and of course food. Now, it recognizes not only the end of slavery, but it is a way to honor the culture and achievements of African Americans.
