What's Your Favorite Word?
Do you have a favorite English word?
In Amity, we learn lots of words and expressions, and I'm sure you also hear many words in school and on TV. Does anything in particular come to mind?
For me, my favorite English word is 'ephemeral.'
It means to last for a short time. For example, time may be epehermeral, but we can treasure our memories forever.

How Many Days in a Month?
Most months have 30 or 31 days, but do you find it tricky to remember which ones have how many? In school, we learned this song to help us remember.
30 days have September, April, June and November
All the rest have 31
Except for February, which has 28 (29 if it's a leap year)
Making up little songs can help you remember things, so if you're stuck, try making a song out of it!

Little by little, the temperature is dropping and we are approaching the autumn season? What comes to mind when you think about autumn? Pumpkins? Halloween? The leaves changing? Have you ever heard of the proverb 'the early bird gets the worm?' It's an expression that means those who start early reap more rewards. For example, if you arrive somewhere early, you will probably have more seating options to choose from. Or if you wake up earlier, you have potential to get more things done in your day. There are many proverbs and expressions that use animals. Let's learn about these expressions together!
Did you know that in the United States, school starts from September?
Compared to Japan, our summer vacation is much longer, which gives students the opportunity to do many things outside of school and homework. When September rolls around, in the cool weather, we are refreshed and ready to begin the new grade.
