What Do You Want to Be? The Big Dreams of Young Students!

This week, fourth grade to sixth grade students are learning about different kinds of jobs.

Elementary school students have so many exciting ideas about their future jobs! Some want to be doctors who help sick people feel better. Others hope to be politicians who make important decisions. There are even students who dream of being strong lumberjacks, cutting down big trees in the forest!

Whether they want to fly high as pilots or dig for old things as archaeologists, these young minds are full of amazing plans. Their dreams are as unique and bright as they are. The future is theirs to build, and the possibilities are endless! What will you be when you grow up?"

Tanabata: Making Wishes Under the Stars in Japan

Imagine a night when your deepest dreams and heartfelt wishes could take flight, carried by the wind up to the stars. This is the magic of Tanabata, Japan's enchanting Star Festival celebrated every July.

As communities come together to honor the tale of two celestial lovers, visitors are invited to write their wishes on colorful tanzaku paper and hang them on bamboo branches. Will you wish for good health, academic success, or the chance to travel the world? Maybe you'll pen a message to a loved one, or simply express your hope for a brighter future.

Whatever your heart desires, Tanabata offers a chance to weave your wishes into the tapestry of the night sky, where they can be seen by the stars above.

Parent Observations

During the week 6/25 - 6/29 we will invite parents to join in the lesson and watch their child learn English. This is a great opportunity for parents to see how much their child has learnt with English and to see our lesson first hand. Also the lessons are a lot of fun with parents and students!

Would You Try These Summer Treats?

Are you ready to beat the summer heat?

Here are 5 popular summer treats from around the world.

1. Gelato (Italy): Originating in 16th century Italy, gelato is a dense, creamy ice cream with a lower fat content than its American counterpart, resulting in an intensely flavorful and smooth texture.

2. Mango Lassi (India): A refreshing yogurt-based drink hailing from the Indian subcontinent, mango lassi blends sweet, ripe mangoes with cooling yogurt for a perfect balance of tang and sweetness.

3. Granita (Sicily, Italy): The Sicilian version of Italian ice, granita features coarse, crunchy crystals of sweetened, frozen fruit or coffee flavors, often served as a palate-cleansing intermezzo.

4. Shaved Ice (Hawaii, USA): Derived from Japanese kakigōri, Hawaiian shave ice features fluffy, snow-like ice doused in vibrant fruit syrups and often topped with creamy condensed milk.

5. Paletas (Mexico): These Mexican ice pops elevate the humble frozen treat, featuring all-natural fruit purees and unique flavors like tamarind, cucumber, and hibiscus.

Which one would you like to try?

Hump Day

Most people call Wednesday "Hump Day" because Wednesday is the day in the middle of the week and if the week was a hill or a mountian then climbing it till you come to the middle is called a hump and normally after climbing up the hill adn getting to the hump the way down is faster and more fun. Just like Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Happy Hump Day everyone!
