Constitution Memorial Day is held every year on May 3rd to
commemorate the
promulgation in 1947 of Japan’s constitution. It was first celebrated in 1948 to reflect upon
democracy and the role of the government. Many cities and towns throughout Japan have large festivals during this time as it is part of the busiest holiday that is Golden Week in Japan. A lot of local and foreign travelers are
taking advantage of the warm weather to travel.

promulgation - to make (an idea, belief, etc.) known to many people by open declaration or announcement
democracy - government by the people

Today marks the start of the Golden Week! How are you feeling, so far? Here are some
English vocabulary to describe feelings:
curious - Do you want to explore new places around Japan or abroad this Golden week? Then you are feeling curious.
elated - Do you feel very happy about something this Golden Week? For example, meeting your friends and loved ones. Then you are feeling elated.
anxious - Do you think something bad might happen during this holiday? A canceled hotel booking or losing your wallet, perhaps? Then you are feeling anxious.
indifferent - Do you not feel neither good nor bad about Golden Week? Like, you do not care or have any interest in it. Then you are feeling indifferent.
