Recently at our school there a\have been a lot of discussions about moving and travelling, both in Japan and outside it, and many funny stories shared about how different some places can be.
Japan itself, despite being a reatively small country compared to many others, has so many different climates, From Okinawa`s tropical south to Hokkaido`s frosty north, and going furtherm there are the vast desserts of Australia, the rocky mountains of China and the misty moors of Ireland!
Getting the chance to travel far and wide across the world can teach us so much! I hope that all of our students have the chance to see as much of the world as they want to!

本日は高校3年生の大学入試二次試験に向けた対策のお話をいたします。
1月に共通テストを終えたTくん。
現在は、大学の過去問題を使用して英作文とグラフ説明問題を練習しています。
英作文は自身の意見を”一般的な人々”を主語にして書くこと、グラフは大事な情報を言葉でまとめること、英語での言い方に苦戦しております。
これは英検2級、準1級の英作文でも重視されていることですね！
この書く力はすぐには上達しないので、長期間練習する必要があります。
共通テストでテストは終わりではないので、早くから準備を始めましょうね！

Many of my students have been curious about Valentines day! How it started, how it's celebrated in other countries.
So I thought I could share some interesting fun facts about the special day of love!
1. The first Valentine’s Day celebration took place in France.
2. Teachers get more valentines than anyone else.
3. 145 million greeting cards are exchanged every year for Valentine’s Day.
4. About 25% of pet owners give Valentine’s Day gifts to their pets.
5. The inventor of candy hearts started out by producing medicinal lozenges.
6. The chocolate box has been around for more than 150 years.
7. Lovebirds are actual birds.
8. 250 million roses are grown just for Valentine’s Day.
9. Valentine’s Day is one of the biggest holidays for giving flowers.
10. In Japan, women give men chocolate for Valentine’s Day.

As an English teacher it is especially fascinating to see how my - soon to be - 3 year old daughter's language is developing.
Her sentences generally follow variations on imperative verb + noun + imperative verb (見てパパ見て), noun + particle + noun + verb (葉鳴ちゃんはアンパンマン好き) (ママが大好き）and noun + particle + adjective (ホットケーキが美味しい).
Her most often used word is いやだ.
Especially in relation to Papa.

Last week I was speaking to one of my students about hobbies and art, and she told me about how she and her friend want to study fashion design.
We spoke about design and fashion, about travelling to places like Paris and Milan, and even what kind of clothes we like to wear.
You truly nex\ver see someone lif\ght up quite the same way as when they get to talk about something they love, and I think it`s so amazing seeing students take what they know and put it towards what they love as a way to express themselves further!

We@ve now entered Febuary and Valentines day is fast approaching,
Everywhere I go is pink and hearts, and many of my students have told me happily about their plans to do baking and make chocolates with or for their friends.
In Australia, Valentines day is a holiday saved almost entirely for couples, and doesn`t recieve much fanfare, but Here in Japan I see it treated as such a light hearted holiday and chance to express care and love to all your friends, especially paired with White Day! A holiday that exists only here in Japan!
I can`t wait to hear more about the sweet(haha!) gestures and activities everyone will get up to this month

今日は小学校低学年クラスのお話をいたします。
全部で6人のこのクラス。
とても賑やかでいつも笑いに包まれています。
この間、'I have a ...'という文を練習しました。
ゆっくりだと簡単なので、少し早く言う練習をしました。
するとみんな、rやlが混ざっている単語もスピードに乗せて発話を頑張っていました。
そしてお友達が困っているときには、クラスメイト同士で教えあっていました！
「教える」というのは自分がわかっていないとできないこと。
英語を学ぶ上でとても大事な「アウトプット」がお友達同士でできるともっと楽しくなりますね！
その練習もかねて、やりたい子には先生役になって前に出てきてもらうこともあります。
次は、誰に先生になってもらおうかな…？
