Diwali celebrations can last for about five days.

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Light, is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Newar Buddhists globally. Diwali is the brightest and most significant festival in the Indian diaspora in South Africa.

South Africa's large Indian community, particularly in Durban, celebrates Diwali by lighting lamps, bursting crackers, and organizing cultural; while lighting of clay lamps and fireworks is observed, communities also indulge in traditional Indian sweet and savoury food.

Currently, Tens of thousands of South Africans from all communities participated in Diwali celebrations across the country ahead of the festival of lights next Sunday.

It’s October now so that means it’s time for fall/autumn activities. Lots of Americans love doing fall activities with their family. Many people decorate their house or front yard with fall decorations and Halloween decorations. Some other activities include going to farms for apple picking or going pumpkin picking, hay rides, corn maze, carving pumpkins, haunted houses, playing in the leaves, farmers market and fall festivals. What fall activity would you like to do?

October 10th is Horoes day in South Africa. Every year farmers patiently wait for 10 October, Heroes Day. This is not only the day that falls on Paul Kruger's birthday but also the day that has entertained the folklore of predicting the upcoming rain season.
