He was a celebrated politician, army officer, and writer. He has a Nobel Prize in Literature, numerous medals of honor and had an impact on the world we live in today.

Have you ever heard of MLKJr? MLKJr stands for Martin Luther King Junior!



He was an iconic figure and imortant force behind the American Civil Rights Movement in 1950s and 60s. He began his career as a minister in the christian religion but found a deeper calling to fight the injustices of Jim Crow era America. Jim Crow was a series of laws that forced African Americans to live as lower class citizens during the 1950s and 1960s. This was known as Racial Segregation and caused many hardships for African Americans. MLKJr saw the injustice and decided to protest using speeches to educate the general public about the problems with segregation laws. He encouraged many Americans to protest for equality. On April 4th, 1968 MLKJr was assasinated by James Earl Ray in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.
