In Japan people enjoy hot sweet potato, but in America many people enjoy to eat pie in the winter.

My parents just moved to a new house and the first order of business was to buy and hang a Christmas lantern. (Yes! Christmas starts early in the Philippines.) A parol, or Christmas lantern in English, is a traditional Christmas ornament in the Philippines. When I was a kid, I used to make Christmas lanterns at school. I used put together woodsticks to form a star and wrap it it cellophane. Some people add Christmas lights. Our new parol is colorful and and has blinking lights. Filipinos turn on these lanterns at night and leave them on until the following morning so the whole neighborhood is illuminated all night.

In Japan school starts in the spring, but in America school starts at the end of summer!

In Japan there are 4 season, but in some parts of the US there is mainly only 2!
