今日はバレンタインデーですね！
皆さんはこのバレンタインデーの由来はご存じですか？
西暦1207年2月14日のローマ帝国で
キリスト教の司祭”ヴァレンチノ”が皇帝により命を奪われ、
彼を祭る日に由来しています。
当時の皇帝は、家庭を持つことは軍事力を弱めるとし
”結婚”を禁止していました。
司祭ヴァレンチノは皇帝に秘密で
兵士の結婚をとり行っていたことから
悲しい結末が起きてしまいました。
バレンタインデーの由来はここまで遡りますが、
日本でイベントとして認知されるようになったのは
戦後といわれています。
愛や感謝を伝えるバレンタインデーの由来は
少しだけ悲しいお話でしたが、
今日は大切な人にありがとうを是非伝えてみてください♪

It is always amazing how quickly babies learn! Not only do I see them learn English, but I see them grow in other ways too. Sometimes even seeing them learn to walk for the first time! These moments really make every class feel special. Being part of their early development is incredibly rewarding.
During reading exercises, students really love changing their voices to match the character they are reading. Hearing some boys raise the pitch of their voice to sound like a girl or a girl lowering the pitch of her voice to sound like a boy is always very enjoyable. It makes some fun and memorable moments in the classroom.

Learning goes both ways! 📖
Teaching English also means learning from the students every day as well. From learning about them and their creativity to learning Japanese Culture and even the occasional new Japanese word or phrase. It is always a joy knowing I can learn something too!
Teamwork makes the dream work! 🤝
Group activities really show how much students can achieve together. Supporting each other makes some of the most challenging lessons more fun and less intimidating. We sometimes have students face off against each other in small team activities as well. Being competitive in trying to win as a team really encourages them to give it their all and try harder! They try even harder when I am their opponent!
At our school, we have special classes to help students prepare for exams such as Eiken, so it is always exciting to hear when their hard work pays off. When a student comes into the next lesson and proudly tells me they passed, it feels like a great moment to celebrate together. I know how much time and effort they put into studying, so their success always stands out. It brings a positive feeling to the classroom and reminds me why these practice lessons are so rewarding.
