In Norway, they have a tradition where the little ones can go door-to-door and sing New Year's Eve songs.

• In exchange, they get candies or sweets.


• It is like a combination of caroling and trick-or-treating.

In Turkey, the tradition is to smash a pomegranate on their doorstep.

• The more pieces there are and the farther they spread, the more prosperous the year will be.


• For extra luck, a sprinkle of salt in front of the door is said to bring peace.

In Colombia, people take empty suitcases and run around the block as fast as they can.

• They should do the right foot first.


• It guarantees a year filled with travel.

今日のスクーニュースではお正月の英語を学びましょう✍
日本ではお正月と言えばのこんなものあんなもの・・をリストアップしてみました♪
レッスンは1月6日（火）からですのでそれまでにちょこっと学習しちゃいましょう！！

🌸初詣・・と言えば神社は　shrine！そして初詣に行くを英語でいうと、
”First visit of the year to a shrine.

🌸おせち料理・・おせち料理は日本独特の食べ物のため、　"Osechi Ryouri" とそのまま訳すこともあります。
外国人の方々に伝えるときには　"Traditional　New Year's food" というとわかりやすいですね♪
またおせちには中に重箱だけでなく一つ一つ入れるものにも意味が込められていますよね。
ほんの一部を英語で考えてみましょう！
重箱には幸せ、よきことが重なっていきます様に・・という願いがあります。（諸説あり）

🌸栗きんとん・・Kurikinton has a golden color. So it means raising money luck.
🌸黒豆・・Black soybeans are eaten with the hope that their work and studies will go well.
