Where are you headed this weekend?
Hello everyone!
This week my junior high students have been asking each other 'where are you headed?'
Where are you headed this weekend?
The movies?
The park?
A fast food restaurant?
Take care!

Last week, my older junior high school students learnt about giving and receiving advice. One of my students asked "What should I do if I can't wake up early?" The advice he got was "If I were you, I would set many alarms". I was really impressed by how the students thought of different solutions and were able to give their friends good advice.

Last week, my lower elementary students learnt about past and present tenses. They learnt "Where were you?" and "Where are you now?". At the end of the lesson, I asked some students "Where were you yesterday?" and their answers were amazing. Some students said "I was at the supermarket" and "I was at my grandparents house". I am always impressed when students are able to use the language we learn in class to make their own sentences.

This week my Elementary school students have been describing how people look.
They have been asking 'what does he/she look like?'
We played a guessing game where students must describe people on the big pad. They said "he has short, brown, straight hair".
What do you look like?

Hello!
A while ago my high school students were talking about experiences they have or have not had.
One of my students asked the other:
"have you ever seen a ghost?"
To which the other replied:
"I have never seen a ghost, and I don't want to!"
Are you afraid of ghosts?

Last week, I had 2 new baby students join my class. Even though they were a little shy at first, they quickly picked up a few English words. I am always impressed by how quickly my baby students start speaking English. So, I decided to do some research to find out why babies are able to remember words and speak English so much easier than adults.
I found that young brains make new connections at a faster pace, which makes learning new languages easier. As our brains develop, we reinforce the connections that are regularly used. This is why babies who learn a language at a very young age have the accent of a native speaker. As adults, our already formed connections force us use the sounds and of languages we already know. I found this very interesting.
I hope my babies keep speaking excellent English!

Many of my students were really happy to receive money from their parents and reletives on New Year's Day. When I asked my junior high school and high school students how they would use the money, one student said that the best way to spend the money was at the arcade with his friends. He said it is the most fun way to use his money. I thought his answer was funny, and typical for a teenager. However, i was surprised when most of my students said that they would save the money for their future. I was really impressed by their answers.
