Today two beloved students left Amity for the last time because they are moving abroad to America! But the universe is interesting, because today two new children who have just moved back to Japan from America came to Amity for trial lessons. While it is always sad to lose students, it is important to remember that we are preparing them to go out into the world and be successful! I am grateful for students, old and new, and want to help them all. ~ Leah Sensei
アミティには、生後６か月から通っていただけるベビーのコースがあります。
１歳から通ってくれている生徒さんのお母様が
「この間、初めてリンゴを見て「apple!」と言ったんです～」と教えてくださりました。
同時に、「英語が先に出るなんて思いませんでした～！」と。
この赤ちゃんは、レッスンの中で発話はなかったのですが、しっかりと聞いて学習していたんですね。
英語学習が生活の一部になり、英語が体の一部になっていき定着していくんですね。
これからもたくさんの英語に触れ、楽しく発話していきましょう♪
Energetic Students = Energetic School
On both Friday and Saturday, both English and Japanese teachers at Yonago Amity were extremely busy, teaching 8 lessons each on both days! This sort of bustling atmosphere is sometimes exciting for students, and their energy makes teaching less exhausting and more inspiring. ~ Leah Sensei
Today our students were all a buzz with Leah Sensei`s egg hunt! Word on the street there are some fantastic stickers up for grabs if you find all 12! May the odds be ever in your favor.

「先生！今日学校でインタで勉強したのを習いました！アミティーでやってたので、わかりました！」
「おぉ、素晴らしい！学校で何を学びましたか？」
「分数の足し算です！」
そうです、アミティーのインタのクラスで、通分や、分数の足し算や引き算を学習しました。
もちろん、分数の発話の仕方だけでなく、計算の仕方も英語で学びます。
英語以外の授業でもアミティーの学習が活きたんです。
こういった形でも、学習に自信を持ってくれて、とても頼もしく感じました。
アミティーのインタの教材では英語は当然、計算をおこなったり、地図を読んだり、パズルを解いたり、
いろんな楽しみ方ができる、たくさんの学びがあるクラスです☆
Little by Little, Word by Word
On Saturday one of our newest students spoke English aloud for the first time separately from the group. This was a huge first step into being comfortable in a new language, and it is so rewarding to see how quickly our students become comfortable in the Amity classroom. ~ Leah Sensei
日本語で「あめ」と聞くと何を思い浮かべますか？
空から降ってくる雨？ 甘くておいしい飴？
英語にも多義語があります。
インタラクティブで使用しているI Spyというのソフトの中で
a bat という言葉が出てきました。
そこで、生徒の一人から、「どっちのbat?」と質問がありました。
この子は、野球のバットか、コウモリで悩んでいたんです。
語彙がしっかり定着していたからこその疑問でしたね。
Directions and A+ Reviews!
It`s a great day here at Yonago Amity, where our P6 student's are mastering their direction giving, no maps needed! Also, the Japanese classes have been set on fire as we review course content. All we can say is well done Yonago Amity!

Yesterday was Valentine's Day, and many of our students told us that they received chocolates from their family members. This is a holiday celebrated both in Japan and in many countries abroad, and universal lessons about love and kindness are always important in a classroom setting, too. I hope today's students know they are cared for here at Amity as well as at home and at school!

Today, one of our P5 students was able to flourish past their shell and blossom. We are very proud that they were able to feel safe enough to speak up and enjoy the lesson with us fully.
