Today is Finally the last day of 2023.
What a wild year it has been!
I have met so many wonderful students who are so unbelievably clever.
some have been calm and quiet, keeping their ideas to themselves and focusing hard on details,
some have been wild and full of ideas, keeping me on my toes,
some love to speak,
some love to read,
some love to write,
but all of them have been utterly wonderful, I hope they will keep being wonderful next year.

みなさんこんにちは！
今日は個別セミナーで実際に行った英語のゲームを紹介いたします。
小5のYちゃん。英検準2級を合格し、今はより難しい文章の読み練習や、ライティングをしています。
そこで、「少し楽しいことをしよう！」という話になり、ハングマンをしました。
Yちゃんはこのアクティビティをとても楽しんでおり、同時にスペルの練習にもなりました！
ハングマンは、空欄に当てはまるアルファベットを推測し、単語を当てるゲームです。
ミスをするごとにある絵を少しずつ書いていって、その絵が完成してしまったら出題者の勝ち！
完成する前に単語がわかったら挑戦者の勝ちです！

Winter Vacation is finally here for us teachers at Amity.
Yesterday was the last day and it was really fun having seminars with students while
they aren't having to go to school.
Most of them were so happy not to be at school during the week! One of my students "Y"
even said "I am finally free!" it was very funny,
because he then remembered all the vacation homework he has to do! "A mountain of work!"
he called it.
I tried to console him y telling him, at least he didn't have to go to school.
We all need a break every once in a while!

Last week I had the pleasure of teaching a class that isn`t normally mine.
This adult class is two older students with whom I practiced speaking about holidays and plans.
Our conversation eventually led to us talking about what different holidays mean in my country and here in Japan, and they took the time to explain to me some traditions around the New Year.
It was wonderful to hear about all the interesting things that happen here, and to see their interest in my home traditions, but best of all was seeing them work out what to say together and their pride when I understood their explanations.
I always love when students have that moment,

本日は低学年の英検対策個別セミナーのお話をいたします。
小3のTくん。今は英検5級に向けていつものレッスンと合わせて対策レッスンに来てくれています。
読みの練習をたくさんしたので、約1っか月前よりも読める単語がぐんと増え、スムーズに読めるものも多くなっています。
リスニングは、英検ジュニアと形式の似ている第3問がほぼ満点状態！
すごく頑張っています！
みなさんも負けじと、英検に向けて頑張りましょう！

Christmas is finally here!
Hoping that everyone has a wonderful day, filled with delicious food,
warmth, laughter and good times! It is the time of year when we give thanks to the people
around us with gifts and well wishes. Spreading joy and love!
It is also the time when we start preparing for the New Year.
The countdown has already begun!

The most wonderful time of the year has come again, Tonight is Christmas Eve!
All of our students are now enjoying their Winter Vacations, I have been hearing from them all week about their plans.
"I will go to see my grandparents"
"I will have a party with my family"
"I`m going to see my friends"
I`ve been so happy hearing all the lovely things everyone will get to do, and each lesson ended with a cheerful "Merry Christmas" from each student!
I have always loved how happy the holiday season can make people.

Last week Marked the end of English lessons for one of my wonderful older students. `H` has decided that she needs to step back so she can spend more time preparing for high school.
I will miss Saturday evening talking with `H` about movies, school activities and our favorite kinds of tea, but I hope that she continues to thrive at school and love studying.
the same to all of the students who have come and gone from Amity, I wish only the best for all of them in their future studies.

Monday is here and it's just a short until until the school holidays officialy begin.
Wishing all the students the best of luck with their last week of school!
This got me thinking about the upcomming holidays. A lot of my students are very excited
for Winter Vacation! Many of them have been telling me about their plans, where they are going,
what they will be doing and who they will be visiting. I am so excited for them! Being around family makes things fun!
I am looking forward to my family coming over this Winter vacation.
My Friday, Junior High students even took a photo with me to show my family. Thank you "M", "Y" and "H"!
I hope all the students have a good week and start their vacation on a very positive step!
