Workers Day holiday in South Africa is a national holiday where we celebrate worker’s rights and hard work. It is also to commemorate the day all workers were protected by trade unions and established their labor rights. Other countries might call it May Day or Labor Day.
Most of our people celebrate it at home with friends or family. They also go on picnics or go to amusement parks with family. Children often make cards for teachers or people who work at their school as a thank you for the hard work that they do.

Earth Day was on Monday April, 22nd. Did you know that this year was the 54th Earth Day? Earth Day is celebrated around the world to emphasize protecting the environment and to bring awareness of the importance of the planet’s health. Our responsibility as people living on Earth is to take care of the planet and to make the environment healthier, not only for ourselves, but for others and because it is the only home we have.

Many children, family and adults in America celebrate Earth Day by learning about it and by participating in different activities to make the environment healthier. On Earth Day, many people also pledge different ways to help save Earth and the environment. Some ways people celebrate and participate are by avoiding to use plastics in homes, going on nature walks, going to the park, recycling, reusing, planting plants, flowers and trees, picking up plastic and trash, conserving water, reducing waste and making lifestyle changes that reduce carbon footprint.

There are many ways to contribute to a healthier environment. How did you celebrate and participate on Earth Day?
