Today, many nations around the world celebrate Women's Rights!

In America, many people recognize the Women's Suffrage Movement (where women used activism to achieve the right to vote in political elections) to be a turning point in Women's Rights. So, starting in 1909 the holiday was created in New York City! Soon many more countries would join the celebration, starting with Germany in 1910 and with the rest of Europe following in 1911 and Russia shortly after that, soon International Women's Day became a worldwide celebration!

International Women's Day is also a day where we recognize the efforts made towards Gender Equality, Labor Unions, Equal Pay, and many other social issues. We can thank Theresa Malkiel for creating the holiday in New York in 1909!

Did you know that February was Black History Month in America?

For one month, we honor the successes and struggles of African Americans throughout American history. During this month we often spend time studying the historical figures who have paved the way for a more equal and just America. Some important people to know are:

Sojourner Truth- 1797-1883

A former slave, Sojourner was an American Activist who fought for African-American Civil Rights, Women's Rights, and alcohol temperence. She was originally born into slavery in New York but escaped with her infant daughter to freedom in Michigan.

Martin Luther King Jr.- 1929-1968

A Christian minister, MLK was an American Activist and Civil Rights Leader during the time of Jim Crow in America. Jim Crow Laws forced African Americans from living an equal life as White Americans, this time was known as Segregation in America.

Barack Obama- 1961- present

A former politician, Obama was the first African American President of the United States. He served for 8 years and advocated for policies such as equality, diversity, and national defence.

📣まだ日本語も話せないのに、英語を習わせてもいいの？

英語学習のスタートに「早すぎる」ことなんてありません！

聞き取れる周波数（パスバンド）は5歳くらいまでに基本的な聴覚として確立され、大人になっても変わることはないといわれています。
つまり、聴覚が確立する前の乳幼児期に英語にたくさんふれていれば、無理なく「英語耳」は鍛えられます！
大人になってからも聴覚の訓練は可能ですが、幼児期よりも努力を要するので、早い時期からのスタートがベストです！

耳の発達が著しい「今」を逃さず、えいごにたくさん触れさせてあげましょう！

Did you know that Monday, February 19th, 2024 was First American President George Washington's birthday?!

In America, the holiday is celebrated every second Monday of February so that all businesses can have a 3-day-weekend! But, Washington's actual birthday is really February 22nd!

On this day, Americans do not do anything special except maybe going shopping at stores that have special "President's Day Sale" to honor the former president.
