小学校高学年の皆さんがインタラクティブのレッスンで取り組むアクティビティーの1つに、英語版のミッケ"I SPY"があります。小学校6年生のHちゃんは、知らない単語があるともう自分から辞書を開いて意味を確認し、そのアイテムを探しに行きました。前期で辞書の使い方にだいぶ慣れたからこそ、一つ一つ丁寧に問題を解決することができていると思います。この調子で、語彙をたくさん増やしていきましょう！

最近発話量がめきめきと増えているYちゃん。先日、歩きながら"One, two, three, four, five!"とひとりで数えていました！お母さまは、日本語よりも英語の方がしゃべるとおっしゃっていました。担当の先生に聞いていたYちゃんの最近の成長を直接見られて嬉しかったです。次はtenまで数えてくれるかな、と期待しています♪

My junior high school students have been learning about planning activities for a fall trip.
Some of the most popular activites are taking a walk through a park to see the Fall colors, feeding the deer, taking a scenic train ride, and visiting a cafe. They played a game to see how many activites they could fit into one day. When one activity ended, they quickly asked "What should we do next?".

Have you ever been hiking?
Fall is a great season to do outdoor activites. The weather is fine, not too hot and not too cold.
My elementary school students have been learning about outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and rapelling.
My students are really adventurous. Many students have been hiking and camping. Some students have been rock climbing and mountain biking. A few students have even been canoeing.
It was great to hear them speak happily about the outdoor adventures they had with their families.
What kind of outdoor activities do you like to do in fall?

Recently my kindergarten students have been talking about injuries.
They are so caring!
They have been asking "what's the matter?"
And responding with: "my hands hurt!" or "my head hurts!"

Last week my high school students were talking about the kind of homes they want to live in. One of my students said that they want to live in a suburban home, the other wanted to live in a high rise apartment. Neither of them wanted to live in a spooky mansion, even if it was really big! I asked "why not?" and they both said that they were afraid of ghosts.

Homographs are words that look the same, but are pronounced differently.
In a lesson with a high school student, she was reading aloud in English and Japanese. I noticed that she pronounced 来 differently each time she read it.
1. 来られますか
2. その後で来てください
3. 両親が来るんです
There are words like this in English as well. Here are some examples:
read
1. the present tense verb has a long e sound (reed)
2. the past tense verb has a short e sound (red)
minute
1. 60 seconds = 1 minute (min-it)
2. a very small thing is minute (my-new-t)
