The purple egg!

Hello everyone, today I`m going to share a famous dish from the Philippines.
Yes, you guessed it right they are called the purple egg or salted egg ( Itlog na maalat).
This egg is a famous delicacy from my home country the Philippines.

First these egg goes through a process called curing. In the curing process the duck or chicken eggs are placed ina special salt solution for several weeks. After that, they are boiled and dyed red by soaking them in a red food coloring but the final color is usually purple.

The curing process makes the egg yolk firm while the egg white turns into a gelatin like texture. The texture can be a little grainy and it is saltier than most eggs. I know, you might be wondering. Who would eat a salty egg?
Well, Filipinos do.

The most famous recipe for salted eggs is called "Ensaladang Itlog" or an "Egg Salad".
First , you need to have the salted eggs. After that, prepare the tomatoes, onion and cucumber(optional).
If you want to upgrade the dish you also add avocado and a little bit vinegar.
Would you like to give it a try?

I have a good news for you. You can purchase these eggs in Japan! So if you see a purple colored egg give it a try. It will definitely be a good experience.

Learn with Rythm!

Hello Everyone I hope you had a great weekend!

Today we will talk about how to learn English using rythm!

It can be difficult for English learners to remember grammar and new vocabulary, especially when learnt together! But one thing that makes it easier to remember any sound(s) is ryhthm. Here is an example:

"Where are you from?" "I`m from Japan" can be practiced as Where|areyou|from| I`m|from|Japan. Each section can be said on beat with a clap such as Where/clap areyou/clap from/clap. This timing is easy to recall and the words come much easier when you practice them on a rythm.

Now consider this longer sentence "I like apples but I don`t like bananas or pears". If you try to remember every word it will be difficult but if you instead focus on a rythm clap it will be easier "I|like|apples|butI|don`t|like|bananas|or|pears". This is why singers can remember entire songs easily. Melodies or beats stick to our minds more easily than sounds that are off beat. It is also why young children are taught using songs and rhymes!

I hope this helps you learn English more easily!

Enjoy|your|week!

So Confusing~

I really want to lose or loose weight . Which one do you think is the accurate answer? You might be confused since they almost sound the same but the answer for the question above is lose, it means not having something or not knowing where something is. While loose means something that is not placed firmly or attached securely.

English has a lot of confusing and I`m going to share some of them today.

1. Lie vs Lay –
Examples:
My dog likes to lie on my bed.
He lays some toys on the floor.

2. Advise vs Advice
Examples:
What advice can you give me? I really want to lose weight.
I advise you to join a dance club if you want to lose weight.

3. Stationary vs Stationery
Examples:
I went to the stationery shop in Tokyo.
The buses were stationary because of the traffic jam.

4. Break vs Brake
Examples:
I`m going to take break from work this April.
I stepped on the car brake when I saw a kitten crossing the street.

5. Quiet vs Quite
Examples:
You need to be very quiet when you’re in the library.
It`s quite hot today, so don’t forget to bring a hat.

Practicing with one word responses or with set phrases!

Hello Everyone I hope that you`re enjoying your week!

Today I would to share with you how to practice English by responding with one word or a set phrase. Let us first take a look at some common questions.

Where are you from?

What do you do?

How old are you?

What food do you like?

All of these questions can each be answered with one word and then passed back to the asker. E.g:

Tom: Where are you from?
Saki: Japan. You?
Tom: I`m from South Africa.
Saki: Really?
Tom: Yeah. I am here on Vacation.
Saki: Nice!
Tom: How old are you?
Saki: 20. You?
Tom: Same! I`m also 20.
Saki: Wow!

In this exchange Saki is answering Tom`s questions with single word answers but the conversation still moves forward because Saki passes the question back with "You?". This is a great way to get used to speaking English without having to worry about making mistakes.

I hope you have a great week and enjoy practicing English!

Simple English Around the House!

Hello Everyone I hope that you have had a fantastic weekend!

Today we will look at how to practice simple English around the house!

Many young English learners learn about fruit, vegetables, appliances and furniture. We can use these words in simple English to practice at home. We can use verbs such as open, close, give, eat etc. Here are some examples.

Child: I`m hungry mom!
Mom: Have an apple.
Child: Where?
Mom: In the fridge. Open it.
Child: Ok....here it is!
Mom: There you are. Eat up!

This is a nice practice example as the sentences are short and simple. They are also very natural.

Here are some useful phrases to practice at home!

Here you are
Have (an apple)
(Banana) please!
No thank you
Yes please
In the (Fridge)
On the (table)
I`m hungry/I`m full
Open/Close(the Fridge)

There are many more but these you will use quite often! I hope you have a splendid week!
